Viña Ventureira

Viña Ventureira is a small family run estate run by the couple Isabel and Vicente Rodriguez which started in 2003. It is composed of 20 parcels summing up to 3ha of vines. The age of the vines is between 20 and 40 years old

This is the region of the Albariño par excellence where it exhibits citrusy and white peach aromas. The particularity of Viña Ventureira is the broad texture it offers in the palate due to the microclimate of Sanxenxo.

The berries are the most important and are periodically checked at the time of the harvest. Picking takes place by hand in small crates. We ensure that only healthy berries are selected to impart in our wine.

Viña Ventureira is located in Galicia within the sub-zone of Val do Salnès by the village of Sanxenxo known for its micro-climate being reputed to be the driest and warmest part of Galicia.

Wine Fairs

Rafael Palacios

Rafael Palacios began his new wine project in Valdeorras in 2004, purchasing old Godello vineyards from old local growers. Godello is the indigenous white grape variety of the Valdeorras region. Rafael’s previous experience as a consultant in the region had motivated him to buy and restore old vineyards in the unique Bibei Valley, in the municipality of O Bolo.

The very rigid topography and low fertility of the soil had led to the almost complete abandonment of the terraced vineyards in this tiny but historically important county, and the predominance of small plot vineyards was the result of inheritances drawn by lot, often out of a hat, called “Sorte” in Galician. This old tradition became the inspiration for the name of Rafael Palacios’s top wine “As Sortes”.

The vineyards are located in the western part of the Valdeorras region, on the right bank of the Bibei River at altitudes between 600 and 720 meters. The sandy soils are very distinct, and were developed through the degradation of the granite substratum. The result is a low-fertile, acidic soil prone to erosion.

The 21 hectares of vineyards currently owned by the winery consist of twenty six different parcels, all of them planted with the native white Godello grape, the vines between 6 and 90 years old.

Since the vines are cultivated on terraced slopes supported by fragile granite walls, the work in the vineyard requires the use of specially adapted light-weight machinery. At the same time, Rafael Palacios wishes to avoid any use of herbicides, meaning he has no other choice than to go back to the traditional viticultural methods once used in the region. In doing so, he is respecting the structure of the historical landscape in the Bibei Valley.

Rafael Palacios personally controls every step of the wine-making process, driven by a high respect for the unique character of the land he works on and the desire to achieve the purest expression of terroir in his wines.

Rudeles Peñalba de san Esteban (Soria)

The large and productive vineyard plantations of the plains of the Ribera del Duero are no longer to be seen here. This is higher, slightly irregular terrain: a small valley, a hill which separates us from the main area of the Ribera, and on its sides an array of 40 tiny plots of vineyard, some with as few as 50 vines. Many of them are over one hundred years old, some even planted before the arrival of Phylloxera.

Rudeles produces a mere 4 000 cases and concentrate on hand-picked high quality wines, reflecting the harsh conditions of the area close to 900 meters of altitude.

Valdebonita (white): A monopole to Rudeles, 70 years old Albillo of which a small percentage in fermented and aged i oak for about 3 months. Production 1500 bottles.

Cepas Jovenes: : The house wine of Valdebonita based on younger vines. No oak ageing to preserve the fruit.

Rudeles original: . A semi-crianza based on young and older vines. total production 25000 bottles.

Rudeles selección: A selection of the best old vines 90-100 years old. Mainly tempranillo and some garnacha. Production 12 500 bottles

Rudeles La nación: Single vineyard wine, vineyard 105 years old at the extreme limit of the appellation Ribera del duero.
